Jonathan Sykes, MD, F.A.C.S
Dr. Jonathan M. Sykes was the director of Facial Plastic Surgery at the University of California, Davis Medical Center for more than 30 years and an editor of six textbooks and has written over 200 scientific articles, book chapters, and other papers in the medical literature. He is also a highly sought after lecturer, having given over 1,000 lectures locally, nationally, and internationally. He has reviewed scientific papers for the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery, the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Laryngoscope.

He has performed over 20,000 surgical procedures, and is an expert in rhinoplasty, aging-related surgeries such as facelift, browlift, and eyelid lift surgery. He has a special interest in Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS). He has instructed many people on the anatomy and injection technique for neuromodulators, such as Botox, and is an instructor for many filling agents such as Sculptra. He has been asked to perform live demonstration surgeries in over 15 countries.

Amanda Friese, PA-C, graduated in 2002 from University of Washington MEDEX Northwest. She has been an aesthetic PA injector with Synergy MedAesthetics since 2017. The best part of her job is teaching patients to take a multidimensional approach to skin care and facial aesthetics. She lives on a hobby farm in Kennewick WA with her husband and four sons.

Completed tenure as a Regional Clinical Trainer for Cynosure, Inc. in which instruction was provided on a wide variety of aesthetics platforms including laser, radiofrequency and intense pulse light devices. The training was comprehensive in nature and included laser physics and safety.
Her passion for optimal and safe individualized care has developed into a passion for teaching other medical professionals the art and ethics of the aesthetic industry. Arielle Auston
Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner
Arielle is from Marietta, Georgia. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Auburn University in 2011. In 2014, she went on to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse and received her second bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Chamberlain College of Nursing. After working in cardiothoracic surgery and many other areas of nursing, she found her love and true passion for aesthetic medicine in 2017 and has since been committed to offering the highest quality of cosmetic services to bring out the best in her patients. In 2021, Arielle received her master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner, and while continuing to provide top tier care to her patients, she also found a passion for educating other medical professionals in the field of aesthetic medicine as she highly believes in the concept of “collaboration over competition.”
Gretchen Thorner, PA
Gretchen Thorner is a licensed board-certified physician assistant. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) of which she is a Diplomate. She has also completed additional training in Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine. She graduated from Touro University Nevada with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies.

Her career as a PA began at the University of Minnesota where she worked in General Surgery, Trauma Surgery, and Critical Care Medicine. After moving to New York City, Gretchen’s focus shifted to Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine. Ms. Thorner worked at an upscale Surgical and Cosmetic Dermatology practice in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. She trained under and worked with Dr. Michael Eidelman, a well-respected Cosmetic Dermatologist. After 5 years, Gretchen and her husband moved back home to the Pacific Northwest in 2012. Gretchen worked in both Aesthetics and Dermatology at Valley Dermatology until 2016 and following this, transitioned her practice to purely aesthetics. Gretchen joined Synergy MedAesthetics in Yakima at the end of 2020.
Ms. Thorner has worked tirelessly to perfect her injection skills and techniques. She finds that one of the most fulfilling parts of being an aesthetic injector includes the opportunity to positively impact a patient’s self-confidence. She has taken multiple courses and trainings across the country. Her career now includes training other injectors. She enjoys training both novice and experienced injectors.
Ms. Thorner enjoys spending time with her husband and three young children. She loves the outdoors- running, cycling, and skiing.
